Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce that Mathieu Piché-Messier, National Business Leader, Commercial Litigation, has been named as one of the recipients of the Advocatus Emeritus distinction for 2022 by the Barreau du Québec.
Each year, the Barreau du Québec awards the Distinction of Lawyer Emeritus to lawyers with a remarkable professional career and whose contribution to the profession and the community are worthy of recognition. Abbreviation of the Latin Advocatus Emeritus, the honorific mark Ad. E. is added after the name of the recipient.

Mathieu will receive this distinction on November 15, 2022. Proceeds from the Soirée d'excellence will be donated to the Programme d'aide aux membres du Barreau du Québec (PAMBA), a help and consultation service offered to members of the Barreau du Québec suffering from alcoholism, drug addiction, burnout syndrome, stress or other mental health problems.

Mathieu joins BLG's colleagues who have been awarded Advocatus Emeritus in the past, including Alexander De Zordo, Éloïse Gratton, François Grondin, Danny Kaufer, Alex K. Paterson, Guy Pratte and Jean Saint-Onge. Additionally, Mathieu continues a family tradition as both his parents, The Honorable Justice Ginette Piché and Mr. Pierre Messier, have also been awarded.
In BLG's Montréal office, Mathieu focuses his practice on complex litigation. He has significant experience in civil and commercial law and international arbitration, particularly in commercial fraud and piracy, identity theft, high tech litigation, privacy and cybersecurity, defamation law, aviation law, competition law, industrial espionage, shareholder disputes, unfair competition, and intellectual property rights enforcement. He also acted for plaintiffs in preparing and enforcing seizures before judgment, injunctions and Anton Piller, Mareva and Norwich injunctions and orders and acted as Independent Supervisor Solicitor. Mathieu is also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and of the Litigation Counsel of America.
