Foley Partners Tim Spear and Darin Lowder of the firm's Energy Sector team will both be moderating panels at the Infocast Projects & Money conference this week held at the Royal Sonesta in New Orleans, LA.

Tim will moderate the panel "The Role of Gas-Fired Power in the Energy Transition" on Wednesday of the conference from 1:45-2:30 pm. The Role of Gas-Fired Power in the Energy Transition Natural gas had long been framed as a "bridge fuel" that could fill in renewable energy intermittency gaps, while supplying cleaner power than coal until renewable energy resources matured and could satisfy power demand without fossil fuels. However, that narrative has shifted as the transition toward a low, or zero - carbon energy future has accelerated and appears poised to drive a decline in natural gas-fired generation. Yet the gas industry is making strides to remain completive in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies, as well as renewable natural gas (RNG), responsibly sourced gas (RSG) and carbon-free hydrogen – all of which will play a vital role in decarbonizing the natural gas sector.

Darin will moderate the panel "The Financing Outlook for 2022" on Thursday of the conference from 9:30-10:15 am. Despite seeing a bump in the road for debt costs during the COVID economy, power and renewables fared exceptionally well and are still the most liquid in the world. This panel of leading financiers will provide insights into the trends and outcomes of financing in the post-COVID economy, current appetite to finance new projects in this in 2022's complex and rapidly changing environment, and will share what's inspiring confidence in the markets.

Infocast Projects & Money is a summit for the project finance community to connect, share information and upcoming project opportunities, buy and sell projects, and get the latest market intelligence on the trends in the markets, all while hearing the best-informed perspectives on the financing and deal-making landscape.
