On January 12 and 13, Foley Hoag attorneys will lead a series of discussions about the significance of New York Climate Action Council's recently-released draft Scoping Plan to the state's continuing clean energy transformation. Richard Kauffman, Chairman of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, will provide keynote remarks. The draft Scoping Plan, which we discussed in a recent blog post, describes the market-based solutions and government actions that will be needed to achieve the ambitious climate goals set forth in the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act.

As possibly the most comprehensive assessment of cross-sectoral decarbonization pathways that New York – or any other state – has conducted to date, the draft Scoping Plan is a significant and critical step in defining the clean energy markets, technologies, and strategies that will be necessary to implement the State's clean energy targets. Foley Hoag's two-day webinar will focus on the transportation, transmission, and generation chapters of the draft Scoping Plan, zeroing in on the regulatory reforms and market animation that will be catalyzed by the Climate Action Council's work product. Indeed, the significant actions announced by Governor Kathy Hochul in her January 5th State of the State address are only a lead-in to the major reforms envisioned in the Scoping Plan. January 1, 2022 marked the beginning of a 120-day public comment period on the Draft Scoping Plan, which will inform the Council's development and release of a Final Scoping Plan by the end of 2022.

Join us on January 12 and 13 to learn more about New York's plan for clean energy future. Registration is free. New York and California CLE credit is available to attendees.
