PHILADELPHIA, October 6, 2021 —  Cozen O'Connor is pleased to announce that the Philadelphia Business Journal will honor Stephen Cozen, Meredith Slawe, and Stephen Miller at its fifth annual Best of the Bar Awards. Cozen will be honored as the Legend of the Bar; Slawe and Miller were both named Best of the Bar for their respective practice areas.

Slawe and Miller were selected from more than 70 nominations by a panel of outside judges, and will be profiled in a special publication of the PBJ and honored at an event in late October.

Cozen, founder and chairman of Cozen O'Connor, was chosen by the PBJ  to be the sole recipient of the Legend of the Bar award for 2021. He is an accomplished litigator and counselor, a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, a designation held by only the most respected and experienced courtroom practitioners, a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and a senior fellow of the Advisory Board of the Litigation Counsel of America. He is also well-recognized as a consummate strategist, an appellate advocate, and is frequently called upon for appellate advice, counsel, and oral advocacy before both state and federal appellate courts. Cozen is a nationally recognized lecturer and author on a wide variety of legal and litigation issues, and judicial opinions frequently cite his articles and texts as authoritative references.

Slawe, co-chair of the firm's Class Actions Group and chair of the firm's Retail Industry Group, has been selected for Best of the Bar for Business Litigation. Slawe is a recognized authority in the national class actions defense bar. She represents businesses in a range of industries in class actions across the country. Her cases often implicate cutting-edge privacy and consumer protection issues under federal and state statutes. Slawe has been widely acknowledged for her mastery of the facts and the law and for her strategic and thoughtful defense of litigation.

Miller, co-chair of the firm's White Collar Defense & Investigations Group, has been selected Best of the Bar in White-Collar Criminal Defense Litigation. Miller works with clients to conduct internal investigations, implement compliance solutions, and navigate government investigations. He is highly skilled at helping clients avoid criminal charges and litigation in the first place, but if it cannot be avoided, he draws on his notable litigation experience to defend his clients' reputations and interests. Miller has particular experience in the areas of international anti-corruption laws, export controls, the False Claims Act, and matters relating to sports and gaming regulation.
