Appleby's Hong Kong office has been shortlisted for "Best Offshore Law Firm" at the HFM Asia Service Awards 2021. The awards celebrate providers of services and solutions to the Asian hedge fund industry that have demonstrated exceptional innovation, customer service and business performance over the past 12 months.

Appleby has a well-established global investment funds practice with a strong reputation in Hong Kong advising on various specialist fund structures and particularly on Cayman Islands funds. The practice covers the entire Asia Pacific region, and with its Chinese language skills at a senior level, has a leading edge in advising Hong Kong, Mainland Chinese and Taiwanese fund managers. The team's position has been further strengthened in 2021 with the appointment of Marc Parrott, investment funds specialist, as head of funds in Asia.

With Marc's arrival this further strengthens the practices deeply-experienced senior team. Marc has over 20 years of offshore and onshore experience, specialising in advising all types of Cayman Islands, Bermuda and British Virgin Islands investment funds and their managers, with particular emphasis on private equity, venture capital and hedge funds. With Marc having lived and practised in the Cayman Islands for approximately 8 years prior to relocating to Hong Kong, the team's expertise in Cayman Funds has been further reinforced.

Charlotte Yeung Fletcher is also a central member of the Funds team and was recently promoted to Counsel to further contribute to the success of the team. Charlotte complements the well-rounded practice through her specialism in the formation, structuring and maintenance of investment funds.

Marc commented "It is an honour to be shortlisted. The funds team at Appleby has always focussed on delivering a first-class service through providing pragmatic advice on the commercial pressures faced throughout the different stages of a transaction. The growth in the team this year is a testament to the continued commitment to investing in our services."
