Beyond COVID-19: A Series on Employment Law Issues in the Post-Pandemic Workplace
Webcast 3: Dismissal Law Round-up: Contracts Under Siege and Other Recent Developments
Over the past year, there have been several developments in
Canadian employment law, including in how termination and other
provisions in employment agreements are being interpreted in the
wake of cases such as Waksdale, among others. In addition, Canadian
courts are only now assessing the impact of the pandemic on notice
periods for dismissed employees.
Join our panel of Blakes Employment & Labour lawyers as we
discuss recent case law and legislative developments impacting
Canadian businesses, as well as strategies to keep termination
costs reasonable.
Topics:
- Recent wrongful dismissal case law and evolving interpretations of employment agreements
- Tips for making changes to existing employment agreement templates
- An update on how the pandemic has impacted notice awards
- How a forum for a dismissal claim and other factors can impact termination entitlements
Following the presentation, there will be a 15-minute Q&A session.
