We are delighted to confirm that Michiel Munting has been appointed Managing Director of Ocorian (Netherlands) B.V. He assumes the position in place of Maarten van de Vaart, who will retire at the end of June 2021.

Michiel has been with Ocorian since 2016, serving in his role as Internal Compliance Officer. As Managing Director of the Netherlands office alongside Marga Springintveld, Michiel will oversee all aspects of the business including service delivery, client care and business development, and will work closely with the whole team to deliver operational excellence.

A qualified Dutch lawyer, Michiel has worked across the banking, rail, maritime and transportation finance sectors. He has a deep knowledge of the trust industry acquired from his time working in commercial banking with Dutch and German banks, and more recently as an active compliance adviser and officer, supporting trust companies and family offices in the Netherlands.

He also specialises in rail asset leasing, becoming an independent adviser in rail financing in 2008 and helping to successfully establish a new rail leasing company.

Commenting on his appointment, Michiel said: "It's an exciting time to be leading our Netherlands office as Ocorian solidifies its position as a leading provider of funds and corporate services not just across Europe, but around the world. Our team's focus on providing tailor-made solutions defines our offering and ensures we provide a compelling client experience. I'm looking forward to working with Marga, Christophe and the wider team to continue on Ocorian's growth journey."

Regional Head of Europe and Managing Director - Luxembourg, Christophe Gaul added: "Michiel has been with Ocorian for a number of years which gives him an excellent understanding of the wider business and the important role of our Netherlands office in facilitating funds and corporate services across Europe. Together with Marga, he will work closely with clients and individuals across our network to contribute to the strategic development of our service offering and I'm looking forward to him being a key voice in shaping our European proposition."
