Liat Yamini, a partner in Jones Day's Labor & Employment Practice resident in the Los Angeles Office, is featured in the Los Angeles Business Journal's "Women of Influence: Attorneys" issue.

Ms. Yamini defends Firm clients in class/representative wage and hour actions, individual discrimination actions, and matters before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). Her employment litigation practice focuses on California wage and hour class and representative Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) action cases, and related counseling. She has helped defeat class certification in several wage and hour class actions, including claims for unpaid overtime, misclassification, meal and rest period premiums, reporting time-pay, and split-shift premiums, along with claims for/asserting failure to pay minimum wages. Ms. Yamini also has achieved summary judgment in cases involving claims for age discrimination, unlawful commission chargebacks, and misclassification. In addition, she has experience as trial counsel in bench and jury trials in California state and federal courts. Her traditional labor practice includes representing management in unfair labor practice charges and representation hearings before the NLRB, and in collective bargaining and labor arbitrations.

Ms. Yamini also has demonstrated a deep commitment to community service. Throughout her career, she has coordinated multiple Jones Day office-wide community service projects. She also planned and coordinated the Firm's Women Empowered to Lead (WE Lead) kickoff event in collaboration with the National Partnership for New Americans and the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights Los Angeles. WE Lead is a project designed to empower and train women immigrants to assume leadership roles in their communities on the issues of integration and citizenship.

Starting in her second year as a partner, Ms. Yamini has served Jones Day in the role of Los Angeles Office Hiring Partner and has focused on furthering the Firm's efforts to increase diversity within its ranks and provide opportunity for advancement to minorities within the legal profession.

Last July, the Daily Journal, California's largest legal newspaper, included Ms. Yamini in its 2020 list of "Top Labor & Employment Lawyers in California."
