The global law firm Jones Day announces the arrival of Eliot Pedrosa to the Firm's Miami Office as a partner in the Business & Tort Litigation Practice.

An accomplished litigator with 20 years of experience, Mr. Pedrosa recently completed a term as the United States Executive Director of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), a position to which he was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate. As Executive Director, Mr. Pedrosa represented the U.S. as the IDB's largest shareholder, casting votes on behalf of the United States and voting on individual development finance projects in Latin America and the Caribbean, and overseeing the management of the IDB's $100 billion loan portfolio.

Prior to his government service, Mr. Pedrosa's private practice experience concentrated primarily on international litigation and arbitration, financial institutions, securities, and product liability matters. At his previous firm, Mr. Pedrosa was chairman of the Miami litigation department and director of its national training program for litigation associates.

"Eliot's experience in complex litigation, particularly in international matters, makes him a great fit as we continue to grow our team to meet the evolving needs of our global client base," said Stephanie Parker, who co-leads the Firm's Business & Tort Litigation Practice. "He brings depth to what is already an exceptional practice, and I look forward to working with him."

He has represented clients throughout Florida and nationally, first-chairing more than a dozen jury trials and arbitrations and defending clients under investigation by both federal and state regulators. Mr. Pedrosa's extensive cross-border representations have involved parties and matters originating throughout Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

"Bringing talented lawyers like Eliot to Jones Day makes it clear that the Firm remains dedicated to providing our clients access to the premier legal talent in the region," said Antonio (Tony) Dias, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Miami Office. "He has a stellar reputation throughout Florida as a litigator fiercely dedicated to effectively representing his clients' interests. I look forward to working with him and enthusiastically welcome him to Jones Day."

A graduate of Harvard Law School and Florida International University, Mr. Pedrosa has been admitted to practice in the Florida, New York, and District of Columbia bars, as well as before the United States Supreme Court and the federal trial and appellate courts in Florida.

Mr. Pedrosa's pro bono work has included representing human-trafficking victims in their pursuit of court-ordered restitution, a private school in a First Amendment case, and numerous individuals and small businesses in commercial disputes. He has also served on the boards of several community organizations, including the Zoo Miami Foundation and Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Miami.
