Walkers' growth in Guernsey continues with the arrival of Advocate Chris Hutley-Hurst as a Senior Counsel in the firm's Investment Funds & Corporate Law Practice Group.

Chris is a funds lawyer who has been in private practice for 20 years - he is ranked as a Rising Star by Legal 500, has worked in London and New York, and joins Walkers from Carey Olsen's Guernsey office.

He advises on all aspects of investment fund and corporate transactions, including investment fund formation, acquisitions, disposals and regulatory matters, and also on economic substance and taxation matters having worked as an onshore tax lawyer.

He joins the team jointly-led by group partner Matt Sanders and partner Kate Storey.

Matt said: "We are delighted to welcome Chris to the team – he has an excellent reputation in the Island for the quality of his work, and his arrival marks another step forward for our growing practice group."

Fraser Hern, the head of Walkers' Channel Islands business, said: "The global pandemic has not affected our recruitment activity in the Channel Islands - we continue to invest heavily into these markets noting the significant increase in work we are seeing in both offices, as well as the demand for Guernsey and Jersey legal expertise elsewhere in our global network.

"Chris is a very welcome addition to the team – his experience in London and New York, as well as his experience as a Guernsey funds lawyer, make him a very positive addition.  We are delighted to have him in the business."

Chris's arrival follows the October recruitment of associates Jessica George, Chris Knowles and Pascalle Palmer from Kirkland & Ellis, Allen & Overy, and DLA Piper respectively.
