"Arise Out of or Relate to": Which Way Will the Ford Cases Steer SCOTUS on Specific Jurisdiction?

Tune in as Richard Rubenstein (Partner-New York, NY) and Justin Shireman (Partner-Boston, MA)  review the history and U.S. Supreme Court precedent involving the "arise out of or relate to" requirement for specific personal jurisdiction. Richard and Justin will focus on the respective arguments being made by Ford Motor Company and the Respondents in the two Ford cases pending before the U.S. Supreme Court that were argued on October 7, 2020. The Court must decide whether the car manufacturer was properly subjected to specific personal jurisdiction in two states where plaintiffs alleged they were injured by design defects in Ford vehicles originally made and sold elsewhere.
