Walkers held a career development event for rising stars across the financial services sector in Guernsey last night.

The "Walkers Next Generation Workshop: A Focus on Career Development" event at Cooked at St James organised by associates from the firm's Guernsey office featured a keynote session with Rick Denton of Denton Lovel Associates, as well as a panel of Walkers Banking & Finance Group Partner Kim Paiva, Karen Power (Director of Power Business Services) and Alan Bates (Chief Executive of Guernsey Electricity).

The focus of the event was on supporting attendees to think more strategically about how to manage career progress and how to make the most of their skills in the work environment.

Helena Lavin, a senior associate in Walkers' top-tier ranked Guernsey Insolvency & Dispute Resolution Practice Group, said: "We are so pleased to have been able to put this event together – it's important for young professionals rising through the ranks to be supported and to have the opportunity to hear from people at the top about taking the next steps up.

"We were lucky to be joined by clients and contacts from the fiduciary, banking and accountancy sectors, and we had some really engaging and thought-provoking ideas from Rick, Kim, Karen and Alan – we're hugely grateful to all of them for taking part, and sharing their knowledge and experience."
