The Island's South African community came together to mark Heritage Day recently with a DQ sponsored event hosted by two members of our team.

Every year, South Africans mark Heritage Day by remembering and celebrating their heritage and culture in a meaningful way. The day is affectionately referred to by South Africans as "National Braai Day" (a South African barbeque).

The event at Union Mills Football Club was organised by South African DQ employees, Chris Walton and Dash Pather. Dash and Chris moved to the Island last autumn and wanted to keep alive the tradition in their new home.

'Heritage Day is a time to come together as South Africans to celebrate our culture and the diversity of our beliefs and traditions. It is also an excellent excuse to have a boerewors roll or two!' explained Chris, an associate with the dispute resolution department.

'The Island has a strong South African community so it was great to be joined by some of those who have relocated to the Isle of Man and share stories and experiences over some good food and drinks.'

Dash, who works within DQ's corporate and commercial department, added: 'A sincere thank you to all who came along to celebrate our National Braai Day. It was a great afternoon and thankfully we were blessed with sunshine and a wonderful Braai. We cannot wait to see everyone again next year!'

Chris and Dash would like to thank DQ for sponsoring the event and Function Caterers
