Crowe MacKay is known in our communities for giving back, and through the generosity of our team members, we are making a difference across northern and western Canada.

One of our most recent contributions is to The Rotary Club of Kelowna (Downtown). Our Kelowna office has been an active supporter of the many Rotary Clubs in the area, with several employees and partners being members, for over 30 years.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Rotary Club of Kelowna (Downtown) donated $50,000 to the community. Splitting this donation into two contributions of $25,000 to the Central Okanagan Food Bank and the Salvation Army Food Bank. In addition, this year the Club supports the Kelowna Child Advocacy Center as their major project and due to COVID-19, they accelerated their financial support of $25,000 to the organization.

Crowe MacKay is just one of many organizations and businesses whose generosity made the Rotary Club's impactful donation possible.

Ken Laloge, Crowe MacKay Partner, a Rotarian for 36 years, and current Treasurer of The Rotary Club of Kelowna Foundation describes the firm's generosity as simply, "us supporting those who volunteer or serve by community participation. This is a message of appreciation and confirming that they inspire us." Ken says at the end of the day it comes down to "how we can lead and how we can support them."

The generosity of the office over three decades includes both monetary donations and volunteerism. The Crowe MacKay Kelowna office has been a sponsor for a variety of different Club events, which includes: Lobster Fest, Pro-am Golf Tournament, Rib Fest, and numerous auctions and raffles, to name a few. Employees are known for volunteering at the Clubs' events throughout the year, including: the Field of Crosses Remembrance Day, Youth Exchange program, Big Bike Fundraisers, and international development and health projects. Then, of course, there are the Crowe MacKay team members who personally volunteer with the Rotary Clubs.

For Ken, he chose to give back to his community through Rotary Clubs because of their diversity in giving. Rotarians are connected to many different businesses and organizations, serving a variety of demographics. From youth to young adults, to seniors, Rotary Clubs are connected to the people in their communities, and together are making a difference. Throughout his life, Ken has been able to stay a part of the Rotary community due to their establishment in communities not only in Canada but around the world. He was a member of the Edmonton Strathcona Rotary Club in 1984 before moving to Kelowna.

Crowe MacKay is committed to investing in our communities, through sharing our success and caring for others. We would not have grown into the company we are without the support of the communities we serve. We recognize this is an interdependent relationship, and by working together we will have far more impact than working alone.

Ken is proud of his colleagues and their dedication to making a difference. He encourages his teammates to take the opportunities to help others, "even helping one family or one friend is what life is about," he says. "We can only help one client at a time, but if we do it well we can also help others."
