Guernsey's expertise in the private equity sector has been highlighted with Carey Olsen's success as Best Law Firm – Fund Structuring category at the Private Equity Wire European Awards.

The awards, which are hosted by funds publication Private Equity Wire, recognised the best private equity managers, investors, consultants, advisers and service providers over the past year by analysing firms in the European private equity industry before readers were polled.

Carey Olsen Guernsey corporate partner Christopher Anderson said: "Private equity work is a mainstay of our legal offering across the group and we're delighted to see Carey Olsen recognised as the leading law firm working in the fund structuring space by the readers of Private Equity Wire."

Guernsey deals the law firm have worked on in the past year include a double fundraise by leading UK private equity investor Inflexion. Two Guernsey-based funds, domiciled and administered in the island, raised £1 billion between them.

Carey Olsen also advised global PE firm Permira on the launch and final closing of its €11 billion buy-out fund, Permira VII, and assisted Creandum on the establishment of its €265 million venture fund Creandum V.

"We continue to work on some of the largest, most innovative and ground-breaking deals in the private equity sector as well as advising fledgling managers on the establishment of first-time funds," Mr Anderson added. "This award is both an endorsement of our broad range of expertise and a credit to the hard work and talent of our people."
