Samantha Woo, a Labor & Employment associate in the Chicago Office of Jones Day, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the National Employment Law Council (NELC), a 25 year old organization committed to enriching the minority bar of management-side labor and employment lawyers. Ms. Woo is the first associate ever elected to the NELC Board.

Ms. Woo's involvement in NELC began in 2015, when she was selected as a Fellow in the NELC Academy, a pipeline program open to diverse lawyers with fewer than four years of management-side labor and employment experience. She subsequently joined the NELC Academy Committee, and has served as Co-Chair of the NELC Academy since 2018.

"We're very proud of Samantha and are confident that she will make tremendous contributions to the NELC," said Elizabeth McRee, co-leader of the Firm's Labor & Employment Practice.

For more than 10 years, Jones Day has been committed to the goals and values of the NELC. From Chicago to Washington, D.C. to California, it annually sponsors NELC events across the country, including the annual meeting. Eleven associates have participated as Fellows in the NELC Academy. Aaron Agenbroad, Partner-in-Charge of the Firm's San Francisco Office, and Washington partner Carter DeLorme, who also serves on the NELC Board, have been involved with the organization for many years. More than 50 Jones Day lawyers have attended NELC events or act as mentors for NELC members.
