Minnesota Lawyer has selected Jones Day Business & Tort Litigation partner, Erin Sindberg Porter, as one of the 2019 Attorneys of the Year for her work on Aida Al-Kadi v. Ramsey County et al. Ms. Sindberg Porter was one of the lawyers on a team that assisted Ms. Al-Kadi in prosecuting her case against Ramsey County. Ms. Al-Kadi brought suit against the county for violating her religious beliefs by forcing her to remove her hijab during a booking process. As a result of this case, Ramsey County has changed its policies preventing other Muslim women from enduring the same experience.

The Attorney of the Year award honors attorneys for their work in procuring a successful result in an important case or business transaction, leadership in professional associations, participating in newsworthy events in the legal community, performing significant public services or excellence in providing in-house legal services. Ms. Sindberg Porter and the other award recipients were honored at the Minnesota Lawyer's annual Attorney of the Year event on Thursday, February 6.
