Firm Adds Partners Rebecca MacGregor, Sandra O'Neill and Rory Z. Fazendeiro and Associate David A. Mawhinney in Framingham

Worcester, Framingham and Boston, MA—January 29, 2020—Bowditch & Dewey, LLP today announced that Attorneys Rebecca MacGregor, Sandra O'Neill and Rory Z. Fazendeiro have joined the firm as Partners, and David A. Mawhinney as a new Associate. All four are based in Framingham.

Rory Z. Fazendeiro focuses on corporate and real estate transactional matters and is outside general counsel to several businesses. He assists businesses from start-up through the growth and exit strategy phases with stock and asset purchase deals, shareholder transactions and a broad range of agreements. He also works with real estate developers, owners and investors in acquisitions, development, joint venture deals and lease matters. In the role of outside general counsel, he regularly advises clients on contract matters, corporate governance and intellectual property.

Prior to Bowditch, Mr. Fazendeiro practiced at a Boston law firm, concentrating on similar areas. He earned a J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law, a M.Ed. from East Stroudsburg University and a B.A. from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

Rebecca MacGregor helps small businesses, families and individuals throughout New England with estate and gift tax planning, business succession planning, wealth preservation, estate and trust administration, charitable giving and general business and real estate law matters.

Ms. MacGregor, who has worked at three other Boston area law firms, is on the Board of Directors of the Boston Estate Planning Council (BEPC). She holds an LL.M in Taxation from Boston University, a J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law and a B.A. from Gordon College.

Sandra O'Neill, a tax attorney, advises clients on federal income tax matters in corporate mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and planning initiatives, including the structuring of cross-border and intellectual property buy-in transactions. She also assists clients with partnership and REIT tax issues in the formation of real estate investment funds.

In addition to her law firm background, Ms. O'Neill has held several in-house counsel positions. She holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. from Harvard University.

David A. Mawhinney focuses on restructuring and insolvency and commercial litigation. He has represented clients in business and consumer bankruptcy cases, including corporate debtors, secured lenders, critical vendors, and equity sponsors. In 2019, he was named among the American Bankruptcy Institute's "Top 40 Under 40" insolvency professionals. Earlier, while clerking for the Honorable Frank J. Bailey at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts, he helped develop what has become an annual introductory bankruptcy program for district and appeals court clerks in the First Circuit.

Mr. Mawhinney earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from Boston College Law School, where he was Editor-in-Chief, Uniform Commercial Code Reporter-Digest. He also earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from Boston College.
