Elsa Ben Shimon, a commercial real estate lawyer who focuses in part on representing Israel-based clients, has joined Stroock's national Real Estate Group as a partner in New York. Elsa will lead Stroock's Israel Practice, which recently assisted in the formation of a billion-dollar joint venture involving Israeli and U.S. companies.

Elsa's practice spans various aspects of commercial real estate, including joint venture transactions as well as acquisitions, dispositions and financings of all real estate asset classes. She has particular experience in advising Israeli parties on investments in U.S. real estate.

"Elsa is a first-rate dealmaker and top-notch commercial real estate practitioner with deep ties to and knowledge of the Israeli business community," said Jeff Keitelman, Stroock's co-managing partner and co-chair of the firm's national Real Estate Group. "We're thrilled to welcome her to our firm to help us take a thriving practice to the next level."

Elsa, who hails from Israel, is fluent in Hebrew and French, and holds a master's degree in international affairs from Columbia University along with an LL.B. from Tel Aviv University.

The addition of Elsa to Stroock's ranks marks the 10th lateral partner to join the firm in less than a year.

Stroock provides strategic transactional, regulatory and litigation advice to advance the business objectives of leading financial institutions, multinational corporations and entrepreneurial businesses in the U.S. and globally.  With a rich history dating back 140 years, the firm has offices in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Washington, D.C.
