A Midlands law firm has been shortlisted amongst some of the best independent solicitors in the country ahead of a top industry awards evening.

Wright Hassall, based in Leamington, is up for the South and Midlands Independent Law Firm of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2018, one year on from being named Regional Firm of the Year by the leading industry magazine.

The Lawyer Awards is the biggest night in the legal calendar attended by more than 1,300 legal professionals. As part of the build-up, around 70 judges have whittled down more than 450 submissions from 220 organisations to put together the shortlists.

Wright Hassall is up against seven other firms from across the South and Midlands, while eight other firms are competing in the North and Scotland category.

Last year's judges praised Wright Hassall for the firm's 'client-centric vision and putting the customer at the heart of everything they do'.

The nomination comes on the back of strong recognition for Wright Hassall recently listed in the BDO Growth Barometer, which has identified the 50 fastest growing companies within the region; and the Midlands SME 300 Index.

Sarah Perry, Managing Partner at Wright Hassall, said: "Winning Regional Firm of The Year in 2017 opened doors for Wright Hassall and helped raise our profile regionally and nationally.

"To be nominated again in a different category is a real honour and testament to our team's hard work. We pride ourselves on our independent approach which allows us to operate in a way that best suits both our clients and our staff."

The winners of The Lawyer Awards 2018 will be announced at a glittering ceremony at Grosvenor House in London on 26 June.
