Maria Elena (Mariela) Huerta Ávila has been elevated to of counsel in the Global Disputes Practice. She is based in the Mexico City Office.

Ms. Huerta's practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation with an emphasis on corporate and shareholder litigation. She has represented local and international clients in disputes related to the enforcement of contracts subject to Mexican law, including inobservance and interpretation of clauses and injunctions, either before courts or in negotiations. She has experience in commercial arbitration, representing clients in international arbitral proceedings, as well as in local arbitration proceedings involving Mexican dispute resolutions.

"Mariela aligns her impressive combination of litigation and arbitration skills to advise both Mexican and multinational companies in complex domestic and international disputes," said Sion Richards, head of the Global Disputes Practice.

Ms. Huerta earned her law degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana.
