STAMFORD, Conn. (January 30, 2023) – Holland & Knight advised Hometown Food Company, a portfolio company controlled by Brynwood Partners VIII L.P., on its acquisition of Birch Benders from its previous owner Sovos Brands, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOVO). The transaction closed on Dec. 30, 2022.

Headquartered in Chicago, Hometown Food Company was formed by Brynwood Partners in June 2018 to acquire a portfolio of brands from the J.M. Smucker Company. It is currently home to baking brands including Pillsbury Baking®, Funfetti®, Hungry Jack®, Arrowhead Mills®, White Lily®, Jim Dandy®, Martha White® and De Wafelbakkers®.

Brynwood Partners is an operationally focused private equity firm that makes control investments in North American-based lower middle market companies. The Greenwich, Connecticut-based firm targets non-core brands or companies operating exclusively in the consumer sector.
