Cadwalader is acting as defense counsel in the New York County District Attorney's Office indictment of 50 defendants alleging a construction kickback scheme that stole from New York's major real estate developers.

The district attorney's office alleges that Robert Baselice, a Staten Island construction executive, manipulated his firm's competitive bidding process for subcontractors in exchange for kickback payments to himself and his associates.

The indictment charges Cadwalader's client, subcontractor MDB Development Corp., together with its CEO, Michael DeBellas, with several crimes, to which they plead not guilty at their arraignment in New York state court on January 18.

The Cadwalader team is led by Global Litigation co-chair Nick Gravante and includes associate Dillon Carlin.
