Are there particular requirements, such as quality control by the licensor, for a trademark licence to be valid?

Answer ... It is not mandatory to include quality control clauses in a trademark licence. However, a licence must include the following information:

  • the trademark registration number;
  • the trademark owner’s name and nationality;
  • the licensee’s name, address, domicile and nationality;
  • the registered goods and services;
  • the licence start and expiry dates; and
  • the geographical territory of the licence (if any).
