The Swiss Exchange SWX created a new share trading segment for emerging-growth companies which are ready for public listing. This will pave the way for young domestic and foreign companies in growth industries to access capital via the Swiss financial marketplace. A distinct set of listing rules has been drafted for these companies; their shares will be traded on the existing technical platform of the SWX. One mayor feature of the new regulations is that the minimum requirements with respect to capital base and operational track record have been relaxed.

The SWX obtained the approval by the responsible authorities, i.e. the admissions committee of the Swiss Exchange and the Swiss Federal Banking Commission. The new exchange segment is in force since June 1, 1999. This emerging-growth sector is expected to satisfy the specific demands of the Swiss financial marketplace.
