The monumental decision affirmed that Montanans have a constitutional right to a clean and healthful environment, including a safe and stable climate. Tax attorney Lee Meyercord will speak at the 58th Annual Southern Federal Tax Institute about the IRS' audit campaign focused on the self-employment tax liability of limited partners. Ms. Meyercord will explore the current state of the law for self-employment taxes under the limited partner exception, what's to come and share tips for handling a Self-Employed Contributions Act (SECA) audit. She will also discuss what the continued emphasis on partnership audits and increased IRS enforcement funding may mean for private equity, hedge funds and asset management funds.

Tax attorney Daniel Strickland will also participate in the event, speaking on a panel titled "Eligibility for the ERC: Who CARES?" on November 1, 2023.

Tax attorney Daniel Strickland will speak at the 58th Annual Southern Federal Tax Institute about eligibility for the Employee Retention Credit (ERC). ERC is a refundable tax credit that was established through the CARES Act of 2020 to provide businesses relief from the economic impact of the pandemic. Although the ERC eligibility periods have ended, employers who qualified in 2020 or 2021 still have the ability to file claims for refund. This panel will discuss the nuances of the eligibility rules, applicable IRS guidance and areas of interaction between the ERC and other tax incentives.

Tax attorney Lee Meyercord will also speak at the institute on a panel titled "Self-Employment (SECA) Taxes Applicable to LLPs, Hedge Funds, Private Equity & Venture Capital."
