Foley Hoag Partner Jeffrey I.D. Lewis will join the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) for an informative webinar hosted jointly by the Patent Law and Patent Litigation Committees. The cannabis market and regulatory landscape continues to evolve in Maryland, as licenses are awarded by lotteries and new cannabis statutes get passed in legislative sessions. On the horizon, the Foley Hoag team is also looking at new Emergency Regulations that are scheduled to take effect by June 30, 2024, as well as opportunities to obtain a license. Foley Hoag's Maryland Cannabis team will discuss:

Despite not using march-in rights over the past 40 years to limit drug pricing, the Biden administration and governmental agencies are now turning to march-in as a potential means to lower drug pricing. Under the Bayh-Dole Act, the federal government has the right to “march in” on patented inventions created using federal funds to require the patent holder to license the patent to other applicants.
Foley Hoag partner Donald Ware will join this Strafford panel to review the history of the Bayh-Dole Act, lessons learned from past march-in petitions and the proposed NIST framework. The panel will discuss the implications and concerns for patent rights and innovation in the biopharma space.

Produced in conjunction with the City of New York, the TD Five Boro Bike Tour is a charitable ride that funds free bike education programs reaching thousands of New Yorkers each year. In response to the pandemic, their programming went virtual—they taught more than 30,000 kids and adults critical bike skills in 2020 alone.
