Slovak News - September 97 - Regime Of Certification For Imported Goods

Slovakia Finance and Banking
Under Act 30/1968 Coll. on state testing the, general requirements for certification of goods are defined. In accordance with this Act, the Agency for Normalisation, Measurement and Testing of SR issued a list of goods which require certification under its register.

The list of goods which required certification caused many problems to both importers and the Customs Authorities, mainly because the codes of the goods listed are different from those used by the Customs Authorities. The list included both imported finished goods and goods for further processing.

The Customs Authorities require a valid certificate or Agency confirmation that the goods are excluded from certification from the importer who is applying for release of goods into free circulation. This regime is in effect from 20 September 1997.

The Ministry of Economy is currently working on the amended list, which would eliminate the above discrepancies.
