The need for confidentiality in a financial services centre is understood and Anguilla has, since 1981, had a Confidential Relationships Ordinance.

The principal purpose of this legislation is to provide sanctions and penalties for the unauthorised disclosure, obtaining, or attempting to obtain, confidential information. The sanctions extend also to the use of the information for the benefit of that individual or any other person.

Anguilla does have a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty with the United States, but this does not extend to any fiscal matters. Anguilla is a member of the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force.
