The Abu Dhabi Global Market ("ADGM")
has issued new employment regulations (the "New
Regulations"), which will come into effect on 1
January 2020 and repeal the existing 2015 employment regulations
(the "2015 Regulations"). The New
Regulations can be read in full here. This follows hot on the heels of the
introduction of a new employment law in the DIFC (DIFC Law No. 2 of
2019, the "DIFC Employment Law"), which
came into effect on 28 August 2019. You can read our commentary on
the DIFC Employment Law here.
The New Regulations amend the 2015 Regulations in a number of
key respects. In this article we highlight key changes to the
existing regime and its impact on both employers and employee and
we consider how the New Regulations compare to the DIFC Employment
Law.
