ZEST Malta 2017, the main gathering for Malta-based start-ups, held at the Radisson Blu Golden Sands Resort and Spa, is the Malta Communication's Authority contribution towards raising further awareness on the start-up phenomenon and bringing the Maltese start up community closer together. It also serves as an exceptional platform for youths to discover what tech entrepreneurship can offer and urge them to make the most of this opportunity. Most importantly, it gives visibility to the Maltese ecosystem whilst showcasing its potential well beyond its shores.

This year's ZEST conference attracted more than 50 world-class speakers discussing topics such as business foresight, investment, scaling strategies, organisational culture and the impact of emerging technologies on established verticals such as finance, content, and hospitality.

"Malta can serve as a home to a community of technology start-ups," said Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation Silvio Schembri, while addressing the second edition of ZEST Malta 2017 organised between the 19th and 20th September.

Malta never shied away from being different and standing out from the crowd said Schembri whilst pointing out that, according to 'The 2017 Global Start- Up Ecosystem Report', a study carried out thanks to a partnership between Malta Communications Authority and start-up Genome, Malta shows significant growth potential as a start-up ecosystem mainly due to the level of talent and market reach. In fact it ranked higher when compared to other European counterparts.

Silvio Schembri stated that this government is always ready to listen and he encouraged participants to come forward with their ideas. "We want you to call Malta home," said Silvio Schembri whilst thanking them for their contribution towards the growth of Malta's tech start-up ecosystem.
