We have prepared the Investment Funds Act Compendium as a
service to our clients.
The principal statute is the Investment Funds Act (the
"Act"), as amended. The most recent amendment to this
Compendium includes the Investment Funds Amendment Act 2016 section
20 Transitional – Investment Funds Amendment Act 2013, in
force 14 July 2016. The balance of the Act will come into force by
Notice in the Gazette.
In addition, we have included related Rules and Regulations (in
some cases, only relevant provisions have been included). For a
complete list of amendments that have been incorporated into the
Investment Funds Act 2006 Compendium and related legislation,
please refer to the Table of Statutes.
This Compendium does not contain the various forms and filings
prescribed by the Act. These are available upon request to Conyers
Dill & Pearman.
While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of this
Compendium, and it is believed that the only errors in this reprint
are those contained in the statutes themselves (which errors have
been faithfully reproduced), no responsibility is assumed for the
content and reference is made to the original for an authoritative
statement of the law.
Confidentiality of corporate documents and information is one of
the key attractions of incorporating a company in the BVI. A
company search of the BVI Registrar of Corporate Affairs will only
disclose certain information and documents.
The Panamanian Law 52 of October 27, 2016 (the "Law"), which relates to accounting records and the annual franchise tax of Panamanian entities (corporations and foundations), came into effect on 1 January 2017.
Following the successful introduction of ‘failure to prevent' offences in the areas of bribery and tax evasion, the UK government is priming another possible corporate offence with a call for evidence launched on 13 January 2017, to end on 24 March 2017, on ‘corporate liability for economic crime'.
In many of my writings I try to bring together my fascination for history with my professional and academic interest in the law.
