2015 proved to be a remarkably good year for Malta's Aviation Industry as consistent growth was recorded throughout last year. 61 aircraft were registered with Transport Malta while 6 new operators became certified. In addition, more pilot and engineer licences were issued.

Currently, the Malta Aviation Register has 213 aircraft and 28 operators listed. A Sukhoi Superjet 100 is also on the registered – this being the first model of its type to ever be registered within the EU. Malta's success within the aviation industry is largely due to fiscal incentives such as a highly advantageous corporate tax structure as well as rebate on profits.

In addition, over the past year, the Civil Aviation Directorate carried out various measures to improve service levels and be able to meet the high standards required by this industry in order to remain competitive. One such measure includes a considerable investment in effective human resources.
