On September 16, 2015 the President of Ukraine signed Decree No. 549/2015 on the application of special sanctions.

By this Decree a variety of personal special economic and other restrictions (the Sanctions) have been established for a period of one year and will apply to a list of legal entities and individuals who are related to the annexation of Crimea and the aggression in Donbas.

The Sanctions apply to 400 individuals and 90 legal entities—mainly from Russia—but there are some from other countries on the list.

In particular the Sanctions will apply to several Russian airlines, TV companies, military organizations, funds and banks. The Sanctions include, but are not limited to: blocking assets, prohibiting certain activities, restricting banks' right to use and manage own assets, restricting the provision of financing, guarantees, etc.

The Decree becomes effective upon its official publication.
