Lord Justice Briggs' final report on modernising the procedures and practices of the Chancery Division was published towards the end of 2013. The report recognised that the Chancery Division provides a very well-regarded service to those with higher value business and property disputes. Nonetheless, over 100 recommendations are made to modernise the practices and procedures. The most significant include provision of modern IT, including the use of online issue, an electronic system for filing and for drawing and sealing of orders, increased use of the same judge managing a case from its issue until trial for effective case management, better access to justice for litigants in person and unification in practice and procedure between the Chancery Division, the Commercial Court and the Technology and Construction Court, as well as mutual co-operation and assistance between those courts.
