In this month's edition, we comment on two very different issues - restrictive covenants, and obesity and disability.

We touched on restrictive covenants at the beginning of the year and it is something that comes up time and again in questions at our seminars. Far too often we are involved only after the issue has become contentious. Hana Plsek looks at the importance of drafting in a recent Court of Appeal matter.

Simon Hurry covers one of Jersey's hot potatoes, the Discrimination (Jersey) Law which is set to come into force on 1 September. In particular he looks at the 'protected characteristics' following a recent development where the European Court of Justice was asked to determine whether obesity could be considered a disability.

Jersey Seminar

Spaces are still available for the Jersey Lunchtime Race Discrimination seminar.

The seminar will address the fundamentals (and slightly trickier areas) of the new legislation and highlight how best to ensure compliance with arguably one of the most important laws enacted for some time.
