Jersey has been judged the 'International Finance Centre of the Year' for the second consecutive year in the Wealthbriefing European Awards 2014. The Wealthbriefing group of newswires for the private client community is published by ClearView Financial Media, a well-respected and fast growing media group. Its European awards, now in their second year, recognise and celebrate excellence across the European wealth management arena.

Showcasing 'best of breed' providers in the global private banking, wealth management and trusted advisor communities, the awards were designed to recognise companies, teams and individuals which the prestigious panel of judges deemed to have 'demonstrated innovation and excellence during 2013'.

In naming Jersey as the top jurisdiction for 2014, the judges said that they were struck by how much work Jersey had done internally to enhance its profile in order to explore new markets.

Richard Nunn, Jersey Finance's Head of Business Development, UK, and Lauren Inggs, a Technical Manager at Jersey Finance accepted the award from the BBC's Sophie Raworth at a gala black tie ceremony at the Guildhall in the City of London attended by wealth management, private client and investment and banking professionals from across Europe.

Specific individual Jersey practitioners were also recognised at the awards, along with a variety of financial service providers, helping to further strengthen the Islands winning position.

Geoff Cook, CEO of Jersey Finance, commented:

"We aim always to highlight the quality and range of services Jersey has to offer and its commitment to pursuing high standards of regulation and co-operation so it is encouraging when Jersey's strengths are acknowledged in this way and particularly so when Jersey is able to win such significant awards on a consistent basis.'

ClearView Financial Media's CEO, and Publisher of WealthBriefing, Stephen Harris, was first to extend his congratulations to all the winners.  He said: "The firms who triumphed in these awards are all worthy winners, and I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations.  These awards were judged solely on the basis of entrants' submissions and their response to a number of specific questions, which had to be answered focusing on the client experience, not quantitative performance metrics.  That is a unique, and I believe, compelling feature.  These awards recognise the very best operators in the private client industry, with 'independence', 'integrity' and 'genuine insight' the watchwords of the judging process - such that the awards truly reflect excellence in wealth management.  I am optimistic that these annual awards will become one of the brightest highlights in the wealth management calendar."

It is the second award this year recognising Jersey's strengths as a wealth management and private client location having been named 'IFC of the Year' in the Citywealth IFC Awards 2014 in February. It follows on from a series of award successes in 2013 when Jersey was judged: 'Best Offshore Centre' at the Global Investor/ISF Awards 2013, 'Best in Class for Fund Services' at the International Fund & Product Awards 2013, 'International Financial Centre of the Year' at the Citywealth International Financial Centre Awards 2013, 'Best Fund Service Centre' at Investment Week's Fund Services Awards 2013' as well as 'International Finance Centre of the Year' in the Wealthbriefing Awards 2013.
