As reported in our inaugural edition of CR:HS2, the Environmental Statement has been published and is currently open for consultation.

Following it coming to light that 877 pages had been omitted from the Environmental Statement, the House of Commons Standing Orders Committee has ruled that the deadline for responses be extended until 10 February 2014, from the previous date of 24 January 2014.  This will come as a relief to many interested parties, particularly given the substantial size of the document, at around 50,000 pages and the fact that only 8 weeks were given initially, 2 of which were effectively lost due to the Christmas period.  It is still however an incredibly tight timetable and therefore requires urgent consideration.

As previously stated, any party affected, or potentially affected, by HS2 should now be seriously considering reviewing the Environmental Statement in detail and making any representations on its contents by no later than 11:45pm on 10 February 2014.

In other news, it is also expected that the Supreme Court judicial review ruling, following the appeal by HS2 Action Alliance Limited, will be handed down on 22 January 2014.
