The Centre will receive funding of £36m over two years which the Cabinet Office will use to support innovative organisations which seek to encourage people to take part in social action.

Recent social action investments by the Cabinet Office include Join In, which seeks to capitalise on the Olympic legacy in sport, and the Dementia Friends campaign which aims to train one million volunteers to support those with dementia. There will also be a new Innovation Fund run by NESTA which will receive £10m from the Cabinet Office and which will provide funding as well as non-financial support to civil society innovations.
