The new Government's economic program has introduced several
options for attracting local and foreign investment in the country.
These options include an economic legislative agenda in the
Republic's Congress, entailing numerous discussions on law
initiatives that will be presented by various entities and chambers
in the country's economic sector, including the
government's Ministry of Economy and the National Program for
Competitiveness (Programa Nacional de Competitividad
– PRONACOM-) . These law initiatives will approach
matters such as competition laws, productivity and employment
growth and most importantly, investment incentives, all of which
will be ultimately seeking the creation of employment. The
above-mentioned measures are considered as a step forward for
Guatemala's economic growth and will have the potential to
generate such growth in the long term.
