On June 21st, Dickinson Wright's Rose Willis and Peter Domas participated in the Health Care Compliance Regional Conference in Ann Arbor, Michigan as part of the planning committee. This one-day conference provides attendees with a forum to interact with local compliance professionals, share information about compliance successes and challenges, and create educational opportunities for compliance professionals to strengthen the industry. At the conference, which had a turnout of over 125 individuals, Rose and Peter, along with Jennifer Ishmael from The Rybar Group, spoke on the topic of Compliance and Fraud and Abuse Risk Areas.

Tim Gary and David Adams of Crux Strategies also spoke at the event, presenting on the topic of reimbursement strategies. Other speakers included Tiana Korley, Senior Health Counsel for the office of Rep. Jim McDermott, who spoke on delivery system reform compliance; and Adam Townshend, Assistant U.S. Attorney, who presented on healthcare fraud and abuse.

The Regional Compliance Conference gave local compliance officers, general counsel, privacy and security officers, as well as government agency staff the opportunity to share and learn with their industry peers as they discussed many of the challenges and trends facing the health care compliance industry at this time. Attendees came away with a fresh perspective of how they can continue to make a difference in the industry locally and beyond.
