The FTC announced that it will hold a public workshop related to the online event ticket marketplace on March 27, 2019.

Noting that the "online event ticket industry has been a frequent topic of consumer and competitor complaints," the FTC said that it has "a strong interest in protecting consumer confidence in the online marketplace."

The workshop will cover topics such as transparency and lack of ticket availability, ticket bots, disclosures about pricing, fees, and speculative tickets, and consumer confusion regarding ticket advertising and who tickets are being sold by.  FTC Commissioner Rebecca Kelly Slaughter will also speak at the workshop.

The FTC is accepting public comments on issues related to the workshop and on potential discussion topics.  The public comment period ends December 5, 2018.   In addition, the FTC has asked for suggestions for potential workshop participants.
