In April 2018, two major clothing retailers confirmed that
hackers breached the stores' points of sale systems to steal
the credit card information of more than a million shoppers. The two retailers notified customers that malware
began running on point-of-sale systems across North America as
early as July 1, 2017. Hackers claim to have stolen five million
credit and debit card numbers.
