The President's nominee to be Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission, Joseph Simons, testified before the Senate's Commerce Committee along with the other FTC nominees.

Citing the FTC's "great mission," Simons said that "by stamping out unfair and deceptive trade practices, the Commission can help ensure that consumers are protected and have the information they need to make intelligent choices in the marketplace."

He also emphasized that "the FTC is all about protecting and improving consumer welfare."

Simons said he would focus on "where harm is the greatest" to get the "biggest bang for taxpayer dollar"
