Nutritional supplement company will create 330 new jobs at Summerville headquarters facility

SUMMERVILLE, SC –Thorne Research, Inc., a privately held health and wellness technology company that manufactures proprietary nutritional supplement products distributed through professional medical, athletic, and consumer channels, will celebrate the groundbreaking today of its new facility in Berkeley County, South Carolina.  The new facility will serve as the company's manufacturing center and corporate headquarters complex.  The company announced in late 2016 that it was relocating to South Carolina.

Thorne Research is dedicated to improving individual health outcomes through science and technology.  For more than three decades, Thorne has led the nutritional supplement industry in providing research-based, high-quality natural products, including foundational vitamin and mineral formulas and therapeutically-focused nutritional supplements.  In addition to manufacturing and marketing its Thorne-branded line of nutritional supplement products, Thorne's medical and technology team has developed a unique and superior technology platform to test various health markers, analyze and explain the results, and offer solutions that include Thorne's products.  By leveraging cutting-edge research and personalized data through its affiliate, WellnessFX, Inc., Thorne offers customized preventive health solutions for practitioners and their patients, as well as elite athletic teams.  As a result of the company's product quality and technology, Thorne is the only nutritional supplement company selected by the Mayo Clinic to participate in clinical trials and to distribute Mayo-approved nutritional and medical information.  And Thorne is also the only nutritional supplement company to be endorsed by the United States Olympic Committee.

"We are pleased and proud to call South Carolina and Berkeley County our new home," said Paul F. Jacobson, Thorne's Chief Executive Officer.  "Following nearly three years of evaluating numerous potential building opportunities across the United States, South Carolina and Berkeley County were by far the best option for our company and our employees.  Since making our decision, the State, county, and local governments, and especially the regional business community have welcomed us with open arms and have been incredibly supportive.  We clearly made the right choice."

South Carolina and Berkeley County will celebrate Thorne's groundbreaking with a welcome reception at the facility – at 620 Omni Industrial Boulevard – on September 29, at 10:30 a.m.  Thorne will welcome South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and Berkeley County Council Economic Director Barry Jurs, who will both be speaking at the event.

"We're proud to see Thorne Research's new headquarters and manufacturing facility come to fruition in Summerville," said Governor Henry McMaster.  "In South Carolina our people know how to manufacture products as well as anyone in the world, and, as a result, our manufacturing industry is second to none.  I'm excited to participate in this upcoming groundbreaking ceremony and celebrate another cutting-edge company taking an important step toward establishing its operations within our borders."

"Berkeley County is thrilled to see this exciting project take a big step toward completion and we're honored to celebrate the beginning of the headquarters' bright future here," said Berkeley County Supervisor Bill Peagler.  "This innovative company is providing opportunities for Berkeley County citizens through job creation and investing in a promising new home. I'm proud that we've had a great partnership with this life science industry, arguably the largest life science project in our community's history, and I'm eager to see this wonderful project in full-operation at its home in Berkeley County."

Womble Carlyle attorneys Stephanie Yarbrough, Kevin Trempe, Brandy Davis and Melinda Davis Lux and senior paralegal Denise Herlihy assisted Thorne Research with economic development and corporate matters.

Thorne Research's new state-of-the-art, 272,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters will be located at 620 Omni Industrial Boulevard, on a 26-acre parcel, in the Omni Industrial Campus a few miles outside of Summerville.  Expected to be fully operational by the middle of 2018, hiring for new positions at the facility has already begun and will ramp-up in earnest during the first quarter of 2018.  Additional information about Thorne Research and its job postings may be found on the company's website at https://www.thorne.com/ and http://readysc.org/thorne/.
