CFTC Commissioner  J. Christopher Giancarlo was designated Acting Chair of the CFTC. Commissioner Giancarlo succeeded Timothy Massad on January 20, 2017.

As previously reported, Acting Chair Giancarlo set forth the following priorities:

  1. Providing customer choice in trade execution;
  2. Fixing swap data reporting;
  3. Achieving cross-border harmonization;
  4. Encouraging FinTech innovation; and
  5. Cultivating a "forward thinking" regulatory culture at the agency.

Mr. Giancarlo joined the CFTC on June 16, 2014.
