In the July 13, 2016, Federal Register, USDA's
FSIS amended the federal meat inspection regulations to allow
Namibia to export meat and meat products to the United States.
Under the final rule, Namibia will be able to export to the United
States only boneless (not ground) raw beef products (such as primal
cuts, chuck, blade, and beef trimmings) that are processed in
certified Namibian establishments. Namibia will need to submit
additional information for FSIS to review before it may export
other beef product or product from other types of livestock to the
United States. The rule is effective September 12,
2016.
