Former heavyweight boxer Chuck Wepner is requesting that a California state court block the release of a film portraying his life story, claiming that producers of the film stole production materials from a movie that he had been working on.

Wepner hired Mary Aloe and her company Aloe Entertainment to raise funds for the production of his life story film titled The Bleeder, but after a failure to bring in investments, the two ended up cutting ties.

Soon after, Wepner discovered that Aloe Entertainment was involved in the production of a film portraying his life titled American Brawler, which he claims was created with the use of production materials from his own movie which is being produced by Tollin/Robbins.

Wepner claims Aloe had attempted to lure him and the actor playing his character to her production by undermining Tollin/Robbins. Fox Rothschild's Lincoln D. Bandlow, who is representing the former heavyweight, said that Wepner did not take this invitation seriously and did not report it to Tollin/Robbins at that time.
