James M. Singer was featured in the Pittsburgh Business Times article, "Diamond Spinout Attorney's Crown Jewel." Full text can be found in the November 13, 2015, issue, but a synopsis is below.

In this article, James Singer reflects on the closing of a seven-month deal, involving the superabrasive materials business of General Electric Co. being acquired by Littlejohn & Co. LLC, that reached a consensus at 2 a.m. on Christmas Eve, in 2003.

"The deal terms finally came into place, and I remember walking outside to see the ice rink at Rockefeller Center while waiting for all the documents to be printed so that we could give them a final review before signing them," said Singer.

"We essentially made (GE's business unit) into a startup," Singer said. "We went in and helped them set up an IP strategy, figuring out what they had and needed from a patent and trademark standpoint. We had to figure out what IP GE owned that needed to go with the company."
