Lawmakers Urge Updated TCPA Rules To Account For Wireless Changes

On June 15, members of the House Committee on Energy and
Commerce sent a letter to the FCC Chairman and FTC Chairwoman
urging updates to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act
("TCPA") rules that protect Americans from unwanted sales
calls. According to the letter, when the TCPA was enacted in 1991,
the overall wireless penetration rate was 2.9 percent, whereas now
44 percent of American homes have only wireless phones.
